Responsibilities
- Perform Venipuncture & Capillary Draws: Safely and accurately collect blood samples using venipuncture and micro-collection techniques.
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions during the blood collection process.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, log, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment and workstations in accordance with safety protocols.
- Record Keeping: Update patient charts and electronic health records (EHR) with accurate collection data.
- Assist with Lab Operations: Support the laboratory team with inventory management and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT, CNA, Phlebotomy Tech) required.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of recent clinical experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic medical records and specimen management software.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety.
- Compliance: Ability to adhere to strict HIPAA and OSHA safety regulations.
