Responsibilities
- Perform Venipunctures: Draw blood from patients using venipuncture and micro-collection techniques with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Specimen Handling: Verify patient information and ensure proper labeling, processing, and storage of blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Patient Care: Interact with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure a positive and calm experience.
- Infection Control: Maintain strict adherence to sterilization protocols and safety standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock supplies, including needles, tourniquets, and test tubes, to ensure efficient operations.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document collection data and maintain patient records in accordance with medical regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) required.
- Licensure: Valid state license to practice phlebotomy in Texas.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Communication: Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
