Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label, process, and store blood specimens.
- Maintain a sterile environment and strictly adhere to infection control protocols (HIPAA).
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures to reduce anxiety, and ensure patient comfort.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure phlebotomy equipment is clean and functional.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen delivery.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be willing to undergo certification training and obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to use EMR systems.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
