Responsibilities
- Collection of Specimens: Perform venipunctures and capillary draws efficiently and accurately, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and answer questions to alleviate anxiety during the blood draw process.
- Data Verification: Verify patient identities against orders and accurately label specimens for laboratory testing.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Record Keeping: Process and log blood samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and timely.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock supplies, including bandages, gauze, and tourniquets, to ensure readiness.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a current Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT, PBT, or equivalent).
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience preferred, but new graduates with valid certification are encouraged to apply.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy program is a plus.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and infection control protocols.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate bedside manner.
- License: Valid driverβs license and reliable transportation (if applicable for travel to satellite locations).
