Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory.
- Explain phlebotomy procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure informed consent.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Manage inventory of blood collection supplies and maintain equipment in working order.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen processing for patient care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or eligible to obtain certification.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory.
