Responsibilities
- Draw blood and collect other specimens from patients using venipuncture and micro-collection techniques.
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of all specimens.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following strict health and safety protocols.
- Explain procedures to patients and answer any questions regarding the blood draw process.
- Log patient data accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with other clinical duties as assigned by the Nursing or Lab Supervisor.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous waste according to regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent is required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred but not always required.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
