Responsibilities
- Assess patient health status by performing physical examinations and reviewing medical histories.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on clinical judgment and patient needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions in the electronic health record.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies and high-acuity situations within the unit.
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
- BLS and ACLS certification required (ACLS required for critical care units).
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to professional ethics and patient advocacy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
