Job Summary:
As our Triage Nurse, you will utilize your expertise to evaluate patient symptoms via phone and secure messaging. You will prioritize cases based on acuity, recommend home care remedies, or facilitate immediate medical attention. Your clinical judgment is vital in reducing ER overcrowding and ensuring patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial assessments of patients presenting with acute or chronic health concerns via phone and secure messaging channels.
- Apply clinical protocols and medical knowledge to determine the urgency of symptoms and recommend appropriate next steps (e.g., home care, urgent care, or emergency services).
- Document all patient interactions accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Educate patients and caregivers on symptom management, medication adherence, and preventative health strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless continuum of care.
- Manage high call volumes efficiently while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
- Monitor trends in patient calls to identify potential public health concerns or system gaps.
Qualifications
- Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a hospital, urgent care, or telehealth setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make rapid, sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical concepts clearly.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
