Responsibilities
- Accurately code and process medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to service rendering
- Resolve claim denials and billing discrepancies through effective communication with insurers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare billing standards
- Analyze billing data to identify trends and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Utilize Epic EHR and NextGen billing software for daily operations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Expert knowledge of medical coding systems and insurance claim processes
- Proficiency with EHR and billing software (Epic, NextGen, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for insurer and patient interactions
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
