The Role:
As a Triage Nurse, you will serve as the first line of defense in patient care, utilizing your expertise to assess symptoms, prioritize needs, and direct patients to the appropriate level of care. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive phone and online patient assessments to determine medical acuity and urgency.
- Interpret symptoms and provide accurate health advice, referrals, or triage instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Document all interactions and patient assessments accurately and timely within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care and resolve complex patient queries.
- Provide patient education on preventative health measures and chronic disease management.
- Manage high call volumes efficiently while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
- Stay updated on clinical guidelines, protocols, and new medical technologies.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in a triage, urgent care, or telehealth setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are mandatory.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
