Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable, follow up on denials, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Analyze aging reports and implement strategies to improve collection rates
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS regulations, and payer policies
- Train and mentor junior billing staff on best practices
- Collaborate with clinical teams to document services accurately
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) credential
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athena, or similar EMR systems)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for claim resolution
- Excellent communication skills for payer and provider interactions
- Experience with RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) metrics and KPIs
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
