Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS standards
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage denial resolution and appeals processes with 95% first-pass success rate
- Conduct thorough claim audits and financial reconciliation monthly
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Train junior billing staff on revenue cycle best practices
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience with specialty in physician billing
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) credential
- Expertise in Epic or NextGen EHR systems and claim scrubber software
- Proven track record of reducing denial rates below 5%
- Strong knowledge of CMS-1500 forms and UB-04 billing
- Experience with third-party payer negotiations and appeals
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify improvement opportunities
- Excellent communication skills with internal/external stakeholders
