Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and verify dosages under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control and ordering of pharmaceutical supplies to prevent shortages
- Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on protocols and best practices
- Process insurance claims and maintain accurate patient records in pharmacy software
- Conduct medication reconciliation for hospital discharge patients
- Ensure compliance with DEA, FDA, and Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers
Qualifications
- Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 3 years of retail/hospital pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell)
- Strong knowledge of compounding procedures and sterile preparation
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Spanish bilingual preferred for serving Laredo's diverse population
