Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications according to strict state and federal regulations.
- Verify physician orders and patient information to prevent medication errors and ensure safety.
- Manage inventory levels, including stocking shelves, processing incoming shipments, and performing monthly stock counts.
- Assist the pharmacist with compounding medications and preparing Intravenous (IV) therapies.
- Process insurance claims and verify patient coverage for prescriptions efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering patient inquiries regarding medications, side effects, and refill requests.
Qualifications
- Current NYS Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license or equivalent state certification.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent mathematical skills for dosage calculation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software and computer systems (e.g., Rx30, Cerner).
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and strict patient confidentiality standards.
