Responsibilities
- Perform complex venipuncture procedures on diverse patient populations including pediatric, geriatric, and oncology patients
- Operate advanced laboratory equipment including automated analyzers and blood gas systems
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff on best practices and regulatory compliance
- Implement strict infection control protocols and maintain HIPAA compliance standards
- Collaborate with physicians and laboratory scientists on specialized specimen collection protocols
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) credential
- Minimum 3 years of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting
- Current BLS certification with ability to obtain ACLS within 90 days
- Proven expertise in difficult venipuncture techniques and pediatric blood draws
- Familiarity with Alaska state healthcare regulations and laboratory standards
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to reduce patient anxiety
