Responsibilities
- Perform complex venipuncture and capillary blood draws on diverse patient populations
- Process and analyze specimens using advanced laboratory automation systems
- Maintain 100% compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and CAP regulations
- Train junior phlebotomists on new protocols and equipment
- Conduct quality assurance audits and troubleshoot collection issues
- Collaborate with physicians on specialized blood collection protocols
- Implement infection control procedures in compliance with CDC guidelines
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 5 years of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Certification in Advanced Phlebotomy Techniques (ASPT preferred)
- Expertise in pediatric and geriatric blood collection
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems and specimen tracking software
- Strong knowledge of hematology and coagulation principles
- Ability to maintain composure in high-volume emergency settings
- Valid BLS/CPR certification
