Responsibilities
- Assess patient symptoms and medical histories to determine care urgency using established triage protocols
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow through emergency departments
- Maintain accurate electronic health records while documenting all patient interactions and interventions
- Provide telehealth triage services for remote patients, ensuring timely access to appropriate care
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance triage accuracy and patient satisfaction metrics
- Mentor junior nursing staff on advanced triage techniques and crisis management
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and departmental process optimization
Qualifications
- Current Michigan RN license with unrestricted practice status
- Minimum 5 years of emergency department or critical care nursing experience
- BSN or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN preferred)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
- Proven expertise in emergency triage protocols (ESI 5-level system)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-pressure scenarios
- Proficiency in Epic or similar electronic health record systems
- Strong leadership skills with experience in process improvement initiatives
