Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and a focus on patient comfort.
- Verify patient identities accurately and label specimens correctly for laboratory processing.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, infection control measures, and HIPAA regulations.
- Effectively communicate with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any anxiety.
- Manage phlebotomy supplies, ensuring equipment is clean, sterilized, and fully stocked.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Assist with the training of new staff members and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, CPT) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
