Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile operating rooms, equipment, and surgical instruments before procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Count and track surgical supplies, sutures, and instruments before and after procedures
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of all surgical equipment per OSHA standards
- Monitor patient vital signs and document procedure details accurately
- Collaborate with nurses and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless surgical workflows
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in hospital OR setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile processing and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Pittsburgh area residency preferred for immediate start
