Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile fields
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols per OSHA guidelines
- Count and document all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before and after procedures
- Operate advanced surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras, robotic systems, and power tools
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care transitions
- Participate in sterile processing and inventory management of surgical equipment
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent scrub experience in general surgery or orthopedics
- Current BLS certification with ability to obtain ACLS within 6 months
- Proficiency in operating major surgical equipment (endoscopes, drills, retraction systems)
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and equipment sterilization techniques
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function in high-pressure environments
- Valid Colorado Surgical Tech license
