Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures, passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Maintain Sterility: Adhere strictly to sterile field protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Prep Operating Rooms: Set up surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures, ensuring everything is functioning correctly.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgical procedures to maintain accurate records.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs during surgery and transport patients safely to and from the operating room.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain surgical records and logs as required by facility policy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or similar certification.
- Licensure: Active Minnesota State Surgical Technologist license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS):> Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital or surgical setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in surgical procedures, strong knowledge of surgical instruments, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift medical equipment as needed.
