Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by arranging sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment according to the surgeon's preference card.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and retracting tissues.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection throughout the surgical process.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure nothing is left in the patient.
- Position patients safely and adjust lights and equipment as needed.
- Monitor patient vital signs and communicate any changes to the nursing staff.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sanitizing the area.
Qualifications
- Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical demands of the job.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
