Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor and account for all surgical supplies and equipment during procedures.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and sterile products to surgeons.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections.
- Assist with patient positioning and draping in the operating room.
- Prepare patients for surgery by checking vital signs and ensuring consent forms are signed.
- Handle specimens and biological samples according to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy equipment as needed.
