Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies, maintaining a sterile field.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accurate records and ensure no foreign objects are left behind.
- Prepare and sterilize all surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the charge nurse or surgeon immediately.
- Position patients safely and correctly on the operating table, using appropriate surgical drapes and sterile techniques.
- Assist in post-operative cleaning and restocking of the operating suite.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST/TS-C) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to remain calm during critical situations.
