Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups efficiently and accurately.
- Verify patient identity using strict protocols and ensure proper specimen labeling and handling.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile phlebotomy workstation in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Explain phlebotomy procedures to patients to ensure comfort, cooperation, and accurate medical history intake.
- Log blood draw data and results into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with 100% accuracy.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen processing and delivery to the laboratory.
- Assist with inventory management of blood collection supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (ASCP, CPT1, etc.) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in Medical Assisting or a related field is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent patient care skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as necessary.
- Valid driverβs license and reliable transportation may be required for travel between sites.
