Responsibilities
- Assist in Surgical Procedures: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical technologists during operations, anticipating their needs.
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile field is maintained.
- Patient Care: Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and ensure their safety and comfort.
- Inventory Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label and transport surgical specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Surgical Technology program is a plus but not mandatory for our training program.
- Training: Must be willing to enroll in our paid on-the-job training program to obtain certification.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and work in a fast-paced, sterile environment.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on detail, track multiple items, and maintain high standards of hygiene.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required prior to starting the clinical rotation.
