Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Monitor and handle specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Manage inventory levels of surgical supplies and restock as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is a plus.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred for experienced candidates.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and electronic health records (EHR).
- Commitment to patient privacy and safety standards (HIPAA compliance).
