Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to insurance carriers electronically.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations prior to services rendered.
- Review denied and rejected claims to identify root causes and appeal denials to recover revenue.
- Maintain precise patient records and billing logs within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Communicate professionally with patients and insurance payers to resolve billing inquiries and explain statements.
- Reconcile daily bank deposits and perform month-end closing procedures.
- Stay current with healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and coding updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding (Revenue Cycle experience preferred).
- Certification as a CPC, CPC-H, COC, or RHIA/RHIT is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to detect errors in complex data.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize a high volume of claims.
- Must be able to work independently in a remote environment.
