Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure zero loss and patient safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and alert the surgical team of any changes.
- Document patient records, counts, and procedures accurately.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with the utmost care.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift equipment as needed.
