Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up operating rooms with all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sponges, maintaining a sterile field.
- Sterilization: Ensure all surgical instruments are properly cleaned, decontaminated, and sterilized according to strict protocols.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Organization: Reorganize and restock the operating room after procedures to ensure readiness for the next patient.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with the surgical team and nursing staff to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Training (CST-T) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Skills: Proficiency in aseptic technique, knowledge of surgical anatomy, and strong attention to detail.
