Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms for surgery by arranging sterile equipment and instruments, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs.
- Sterility: Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Monitoring: Monitor the sterile field and patient condition, alerting the surgical team to any changes or emergencies.
- Inventory: Manage and restock surgical supplies and equipment to ensure seamless workflow.
- Documentation: Accurately record surgical procedures, supplies used, and patient information.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited surgical technology program is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile technique, and medical terminology.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
