Your Role
In this critical role, you will assist the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. Your attention to detail and commitment to sterile techniques will directly contribute to patient safety and positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment for every procedure.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs.
- Maintain aseptic technique and monitor the sterile field to prevent contamination.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure nothing is left in the patient's body cavity.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the incision site.
- Transfer patients to and from the operating room using proper body mechanics and safety protocols.
- Document patient information and operative procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy equipment.
