Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and arranging sterile supplies.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and aseptic protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, passing instruments and sponges efficiently during operations.
- Monitor the operating room environment, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Transport and prepare patients for surgery, verifying medical history and surgical sites.
- Document patient records and perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, anesthesiologists, and physicians to ensure seamless surgical workflows.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and anatomy.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work collaboratively within a high-stakes environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
