Responsibilities
- Assess Patient Needs: Utilize critical thinking and clinical knowledge to evaluate patient symptoms via phone and in-person interactions to determine appropriate level of care.
- Triage Management: Prioritize patient flow by categorizing acuity levels and ensuring patients receive timely attention for urgent medical conditions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all triage encounters.
- Referral Coordination: Facilitate seamless communication with physicians, specialists, and urgent care centers to ensure continuity of care.
- Telehealth Support: Support the growing telehealth department by providing remote triage assessments for patients across the region.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in case reviews and quality improvement initiatives to enhance triage protocols and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- License: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in emergency nursing, critical care, or urgent care is required.
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations and provide clear medical instructions.
- Technology: Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and telehealth platforms.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently while adhering to strict protocols and high-volume schedules.
