Responsibilities
- Assess and prioritize patients in the emergency department using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely patient flow
- Administer initial interventions and stabilize critical patients
- Document assessments and care plans accurately in EMR systems
- Educate patients and families on emergency procedures and discharge instructions
- Maintain compliance with JCAHO and NY State health regulations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for triage efficiency
Qualifications
- Active RN license in New York State
- Minimum 3 years emergency department experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- ESI triage certification preferred
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and de-escalation abilities
- Experience with Epic or similar EMR systems
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments
