Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols to determine treatment priority
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow
- Document patient encounters accurately in EMR systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Provide telehealth triage support for virtual urgent care services
- Mentor new nursing staff on triage procedures and department protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for emergency department operations
- Respond to mass casualty incidents with established disaster protocols
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 3 years emergency department or urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR systems preferred
- Strong assessment skills for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish (bilingual preferred)
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments
- BSN or higher degree preferred
