Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive phone and secure messaging triage assessments to evaluate patient symptoms and medical history.
- Determine the urgency of patient needs and route calls to the appropriate care channels (e.g., Urgent Care, ER, Physician referral).
- Document all patient interactions, clinical findings, and disposition plans accurately and in real-time within the EMR.
- Provide patient education on medication management, chronic disease prevention, and symptom self-care.
- Collaborate with providers and care coordinators to ensure continuity of care and follow-up.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinical protocols to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Manage a high volume of patient calls during peak hours while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of Nebraska.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in a triage, urgent care, or telehealth setting.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient empathy.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the department.
