Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance providers with 99% accuracy
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before services
- Resolve claim denials and underpayments through appeals and follow-ups
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and state billing regulations
- Conduct regular audits of billing codes (ICD-10, CPT) for accuracy
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and KPIs
- Train new billers on billing software and protocols
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a US healthcare setting
- Certification in medical billing (CPC, CMRS, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Epic, Athenahealth, or similar EHR systems
- Deep knowledge of insurance claim processes (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial)
- Exceptional attention to detail with numerical accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex billing scenarios
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
