Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and pharmacy regulations
- Manage pharmacy inventory including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation with meticulous attention to expiration dates
- Process insurance claims and third-party billing efficiently to minimize patient out-of-pocket expenses
- Provide exceptional customer service by counseling patients on medication usage, side effects, and prescription refill processes
- Prepare sterile compounds and chemotherapy medications following aseptic technique protocols
- Maintain precise pharmacy records using advanced dispensing software and electronic health records systems
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes through medication therapy management
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Pharmacy Technician license or ability to obtain immediately
- Prior experience in retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting preferred
- Proficiency in pharmacy dispensing software (e.g., QS/1, Omnicell, Rx30)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in medication handling
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex medical information clearly
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environment while maintaining composure
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
