Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages and demographics.
- Ensure all specimens are labeled correctly and processed in accordance with HIPAA and CLIA guidelines.
- Explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure a smooth collection process.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to strict infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to resolve any issues regarding specimen quality or patient identification.
- Manage inventory of supplies and order necessary phlebotomy equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to various medical facilities in the DC area.
