Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Verify patient identities and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and compliance.
- Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory accurately and timely.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and OSHA guidelines.
- Manage inventory of blood collection supplies and notify managers of shortages.
- Document patient data accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (ASPT, NHA, NCCT) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
