Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments for procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile environments
- Manage inventory, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Document perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency
- Adhere to OSHA, AORN, and facility-specific protocols
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS certification and current New Mexico state license
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations
