Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by preparing the operating room and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to surgeons with precision and maintain strict adherence to sterile technique.
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them correctly on the operating table, draping them, and verifying patient information.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety and prevent retained foreign objects.
- Apply sterile wound dressings and drapes under the surgeon's direction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment within the surgical suite.
- Document procedures and ensure accurate inventory management of surgical supplies.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required (NCCT or CAAHEP accredited).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong understanding of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization protocols.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
