Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and setting up sterile fields
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control protocols
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures
- Transport patients to/from surgical suites and position them safely
- Manage surgical equipment inventory and sterilization processes
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS certification and current NM state license
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ST79)
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong understanding of surgical instruments and procedures
- Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
