Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, to ensure patient comfort and hygiene.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, reporting any abnormalities to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and walking as needed, adhering to safety protocols to prevent falls.
- Prepare and serve meals, monitor dietary restrictions, and ensure patients are eating adequately.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to provide emotional support and answer questions regarding care plans.
- Document patient care activities, including changes in condition and response to treatment, accurately in electronic medical records.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to implement and adjust patient care plans.
Qualifications
- Current and active certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Virginia.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care setting is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
