Responsibilities
- Chairside Assisting: Assist the lead dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring smooth operations and patient comfort.
- Radiography: Perform intraoral and extraoral X-rays, ensuring images are developed correctly and patient safety protocols are followed.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-treatment care, and preventative measures.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and CDC guidelines for sterilization and disinfection of instruments and operatory rooms.
- Inventory Management: Monitor supply levels of dental materials and restock as needed to prevent operational delays.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts and dental records.
- Front Desk Support: Occasionally assist with scheduling appointments and patient check-ins to ensure a seamless experience.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Kansas State Dental Assistant license (CDA or RDA) or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a general dentistry setting is preferred.
- X-Ray License: Valid certification in dental radiography is mandatory.
- CPR: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex dental concepts clearly to patients.
- Interpersonal Skills: A friendly, approachable demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
