Responsibilities
- Review and code medical records and superbills to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500, electronic) and follow up on pending payments.
- Manage denial management processes and prepare necessary appeals for denied claims.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect co-pays and deductibles as needed.
- Collaborate with the billing team to resolve account issues and improve overall cash flow.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records in the practice management system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC, CPT, or RHIT certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Thorough knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
