Responsibilities
- Perform Blood Draws: Accurately collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary sticks for diagnostic testing.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure a comfortable and calm experience during the draw process.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory according to strict safety protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment and workstations to ensure compliance with health standards.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information and draw results in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a phlebotomy certification program is a plus but not mandatory.
- Attitude: Strong desire to learn and a positive, empathetic attitude towards patients.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, professional, and able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
