Responsibilities
- Review and process medical claims to insurance payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services.
- Perform daily follow-up on denied and unpaid claims to resolve outstanding balances.
- Ensure accurate medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and documentation compliance.
- Manage accounts receivable and communicate with patients regarding financial responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to resolve billing discrepancies and improve revenue cycle efficiency.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding updates, and payer policies.
Qualifications
- Certification in Medical Billing or Coding (CPC, CBCS, CMA) preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EHR/EPM systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or NextGen).
- Excellent attention to detail and high-level organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage a high volume of claims daily.
