Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing according to laboratory standards.
- Comfort and educate patients throughout the drawing process to reduce anxiety and ensure a positive experience.
- Maintain and sterilize all phlebotomy equipment and supplies to ensure a sterile environment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Process paperwork and register patients accurately into the electronic health record (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of patients.
- Valid CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
